Step 1: Who Needs to be Involved?

There are many ways in which a range of people will either want or need to be involved in Grounds for Optimism. For instance, some people will be keen to be part of the team leading the award, whilst others will just want to give information about the site, how it’s used, and the things they feel would benefit the school grounds.

Thinking about who needs to be involved and in what way at the very beginning of Grounds for Optimism will help you to:

  • identify the make up of your Grounds for Optimism leadership team, or check you have people from all the right groups involved
  • identify future partners
  • build the foundations for success well beyond the life of the award scheme

The mapping relationships activity will help you think about what is right for your school/college.
